SCC Rapid Grand Prix 2024-2025
TThere are two major changes to this season's Saskatoon CC Rapid Grand Prix events:
This season’s upcoming SCC Rapid Grand Prix dates are as follows:
Location Saskatoon Bridge Club, 3041 Louise Street, Saskatoon, SK S7J 3L1
Registration will be opened the two weeks prior to each tournament date. Please watch this space for online registration instructions. Participants must arrive no later than 9:45am to hear pre-tournament announcements and to re-confirm their attendance. Round 1 will begin at 10:00am sharp.
Time control is 25 minutes per game + 10 second increment beginning on move one.
Entry fee is $30 per tournament with a prize fund divided among the total entrance fees for each tournament separately.
The fine print: An up-to-date Canadian Chess Federation membership is required as all tournaments are CFC rated (quick rating). Each tournament is a five-round, Swiss System format with no tie-breaks. Each participant is guaranteed at least four games per tournament; all byes are awarded a half-point. Grand Prix points are cumulative.
Qualifying for The SCC Rapid Grand Prix Superfinal:
A final championship tournament will be a six-player, Closed event by invitation and will be played on a TBD Saturday, in June, 2025. This event will have a guaranteed minimum prize fund:
More fine print: To qualify, a player must win clear-first in any of the previous legs of the Grand Prix. For example: 5 different Grand Prix winners + the next highest qualifying player based on cumulative points will participate. If a particular leg of the Grand Prix concludes with shared first place then no automatic qualification is awarded and a second total-points qualifier will be invited. Similarly, if an individual player collects two (2) separate clear-first place results then the second total points qualifier again will be invited.

- Saskatoon Chess Club regular meetups at Place Riel on Sundays will remain the same

- $100 awarded to 2nd Place
- $50 awarded to 3rd Place
